Our Preferred Travel Resources

We have compiled our favorite travel resources we use when planning our trips! We have our top resources for airfare, accommodations, transportation, and tours. This resource list will consistently be updated with new great resources and companies, as we find them. Feel free to contact us with any questions!

Airfare

Expedia

Momondo is where we start all of our airfare searches. It shows a lot of the cheaper third party sites that many others do not. If you are under age 26, or a student, also be sure to check out STA Travel. One of the most known and expansive resources for all accommodations is Expedia, if you find affordable flights on Expedia, you often can bundle and save. Skyscanner is a good site to find “error” deals.

Accommodations

Booking.com is our starting point when searching for our accomodations. Booking.com does a good job of pulling a combination of hotels, bnb’s, and apartments. If you want to find something even more local and cultured than displayed on booking.com, Airbnb is the next place to search! Airbnb allows you the opportunity to stay like a local, spending your time in local apartments, villas, and homes. Agoda is a good site to use if you are booking specifically in Asia.

Transportation

Fox Rent A Car is the best kept secret. It does not show up on Expedia’s car rental options, but always be sure to check it out! Typically, it is lower priced than the competition. However, it doesn’t have quite as many global options for pick up and drop off. Auto-Europe and Europcar are our go-to car rentals in Europe when Fox is not available. We also have booked through Expedia – but check your other options, as well!

Tours

All these tour companies are great in a unique way. Contiki is the leader for group travel ages 18-35 and is dedicated to adventure. Trafalgar has a tour for everyone. It has the most offerings for all different types of travelers. We use Trafalgar quite frequently when helping plan others vacations. Intrepid is all about the experience. They focus on small group adventures and sustainable, cultural travel experiences.

Day Trips & Planning

ShoreTrip

Viator is amazing for getting tour ideas (and booking them). We have discovered some awesome excursions by scrolling through the tour options for a specific place. Viator is affiliated with TripAdvisor so it shows great reviews and extra info, as well. ShoreTrips is similar to Viator, but offers a more user-friendly interface! TripHobo is a site not many people know about, but it is incredibly helpful. It literally plans every moment of your trip for you and even pulls in the top attractions into your itinerary. It estimates the time you need for certain tours, travel, and accounts for down time. Lonely Planet we love for travel books and travel guides!
